Myra is the latest release from Cork’s Electronic , Post-Rock trio Fear Stalks The Land. And a distinctly pleasant record it is too. There’s plenty here to warm the ear and invite the casual listener in.
The band’s sound is described as ‘electronic beats, distorted guitar and melodic bass lines with broad synth soundscapes’. There’s plenty of evidence of that here and more from the jaunty beats and brilliance of ‘dance like a skeleton’ to the dreamy vibe of titular track ‘Myra’. Third track ‘Earface’ is all shiny synth goodness and shows a band that is keen to experiment with their sound. The post rock, sonic inventiveness feel of the record continues with ‘If I had wheels I’d be a wagon’.
Overall this EP is a definitive statement of intent from an act very much confident in the direction of their sound and in control of what they’re doing. Fear Stalks The Land are firmly labelled in the’ one to watch out for’ category with this release.
