Alliance Promotions Presents: When Good Pets Go Bad, The #1s, Superblondes + The Northern Drones
The Triskel is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting venues on the Cork music scene. It was a pleasure to hear that Alliance Promotions were organising a super night of Irish talent in one of my favey new(ish) spots.
Northern Drones blend of sonic spheres got proceedings off to a start and they played to a decent sized crowd who were very appreciative of their efforts. The boys are on thjeir third album and they played a mix of older and new material.
Superblondes got the already warmed crowd upto speed with a blistering arrangement of songs that sounded like a sonic mix of the killers meets the velvet underground. It was a really enjoyable set and they really impressed me with their stage presence and how they worked the crowd.
#1 is a fairly bold claim from any act but thankfully it wasn’t strict hyperbole and they played a lively set that buzzed with a real sense of energy and verve. The Dublin based fourpiece are certainly an act worth looking out for in the future
All too quickly the headliners took to the stage. When good pets go bad have been causing a stir on the local music setup for a bit and I was lucky enough to have caught them before so I knew what to expect. Their unique brand of perfectly pitched powerpop certainly struck a chord with the audience and their set went down a treat.
All in all a very ticketyboo night for the bargain price of five notes. Id certainly implore people to catch these four acts when they next come round leeside way.
